What lies beneath

Marilyn Monroe-Avedon I mentioned that last weekend I went to the Avedon exhibit at the MOMA.  Did I also mention that it was amazing?  I don’t really know that much about photography or art for that matter but the clarity of his photographs is amazing.  He had a way of distilling portraits of people to reveal something hidden inside.  I love this picture of Marilyn Monroe.  The way you can see how she really felt inside: empty and lost.  Looking at the exhibit I couldn’t help but wonder what Avedon would reveal about the people I know.

The exhibit is running through the fall.  If you live in Northern California I highly recommend a visit.
