Last weekend we returned from Seattle to a great present.  Our immigration approval!  To explain:  In order to adopt internationally US Immigration must approve you as suitable adoptive parents.  Yeah, you read that right.  We don't have to just prove it to the agency and Colombian authorities we also have to convince the US govt.  Strangely this has been the easiest part of the process.  And incidentally did you know that INS is like so 10 years ago?  It's not called the BCIS and is part of the Dept. of Homeland Security... so yeah we just got approved to adopt by the Department of Homeland Security.  And... this means that we can submit our application to Colombia and get on the wait list!  Our dossier is arriving in Colombia today. Exciting!  Scary!  Weird!  Worthy of over-punctuation!!!

Side Note:  I still call Immigration INS because I am stubborn.  I have Candlestick park syndrome i.e. I don't adapt well to name changes.
