Did I already mention this?

I'm not sure if I ever blogged this previously, but if not, this is kind of my last chance. After much debate and consideration Arnold and I have voted! (Well, filled out our ballots anyways) and without boring you with a rundown of how we voted on California's NUMEROUS propositions, I will say that we're both voting for Obama.  I can't speak for Arnold, but I decided to pick the issue that was most important to me in this election and that is health care. As a public health professional I spend a lot of my time hearing stories of people whose lives have been ruined by the current health care system. At a conference I went to recently a woman recounted how her daughter's cancer moved from Stage 2 to Stage 4 during the month that she waited for insurance to approve the diagnostic test needed to determine appropriate treatment. The difference between Stage 2 and Stage 4 can be the difference between life and death. For me, there are a lot of issues that I care about, abortion, environment, the war, economy, transportation, the list goes on and on. It's hard to pick what is most important, but for years I've been listening to stories of people who have lost their life because our country has one of the most inefficient and dysfunctional health insurance systems in the world and when I voted, all I could think about was that woman's daughter, dying from curable cancer because of our health system. So, I'm casting my vote for Obama, because he has the better health plan and I hope to see a brighter future for our health system starting in 2009.
