Wracked with guilt over my lazy, food-filled vacation Arnold and I decided to train to run a 1/2 marathon. I realize now that this plan might be totally insane. Fears about getting super overweight make me do weird things. Because a 1/2 marathon is serious business for a non-athlete like myself we decided to join a local training group. Unfortunately I missed the first three weeks of the group, due to my extended vacation. Which is how I ended up running 7 miles yesterday with only two weeks of running under my belt. I honestly can't believe I made it to the end. During the last mile I thought I might start crying. It was not good. It was also some bad timing too when the trainer chose that mile to try to strike up a conversation with me. It went something like this...
Trainer: How are you doing? Me: I (gasp) want (gasp) to (gasp) die. Trainer: Okay.
The good news is that it can't get much harder than running the equivalent of Bay to Breakers after 5 weeks of not exercising at all, right? Right?
I'll keep you posted.
